DescriptionA European youth reclines on two ornately embroidered cushions, one decorated with a flying bird among clouds, the other with a seated male figure who appears to gaze at the young European. The youth reclines in a garden landscape with gold grasses, an aspen tree at right and willow boughs at left. He wears a purple jacket with gold collar over a shirt with a soft draped scarf at the neck, green breeches, tan decorated leather boots and a wide brimmed hat with plumes. He holds a Chinese blue-and-white jug adorned with a heron in his right hand and a small cup in his left hand from which a small white and black dog laps wine. A half-filled wine glass is on the ground at the right.
