DescriptionThe Officer of the Guard or ¦Ghulam¦, stands with his feet together holding a sword in his arms. He is clad in a red undergarment and a green tunic belted with double sashes, red and a knotted blue and gold. Over this is worn a lavender coat decorated by gold cloud forms and with a gold collar. His plumed, cap-like helmet with encircled by a turban and small black shoes and stockings complete the outfit. The Officer stands against a background created by the orange-tan of the paper and graceful trees, grasses and flowering plants painted in gold. This is probably a late work of ca. 1622-4.
