DescriptionFragment of woolen carpet. On red background with grotesque animal composition. Realistic and fantastic animals originating from or disappearing into, the mouths of other animals which include among many types, birds, fish, felines, turtles, elephants, horned animals and hares shown against a background of floral sprays and vases with flowering branches. Warp in cotton, weft in cotton, pile in wool, Sehna knot. The museum's fragment is one of 15 rug fragments with the grotesque animal pattern. They most probably come from at least two, and perhaps more, rugs.On View
