DescriptionRug, decorated with central square containing hexagonal medallion enclosing rosette encircled by Kufic inscription, border of papyrus sprays and sixteen contiguous squares with rosettes against checkerboard pattern with lotus blossoms. Rectangular panels above and below central square decorated with papyrus sprays. Wide border with oval cartouches and lobed, circular medallions enclosing papyrus sprays and rosettes. Colors are red, green, blue. Wool on wool warp; sehna knot; self- fringed warp; unraveling at ends, sides; sides and one end hemstitched; burlap strap heading.
