DescriptionDouble-shell ewer in form of a rooster. Composite body with underglaze painted decoration in black. Vessel with pear-shaped body resting on foot, handle in shape of cock's tail and rooster-headed spout, beak pierced for pouring and crest open to receive liquid. Band of ¦Naskhi¦ inscription circles neck and another the lower body above design of willow leaves. Pierced outer shell ornamented with deer, confronted sphinxes and human-headed bird amid floral scrolls. Solid inner body plain.On View
