DescriptionFull length portrait of the artist seated at a table contemplating his own work. He gazes at the viewer while his right arm rests on some large, loose sheets. He gestures toward three completed pieces: a silver presentoir (centerpiece), a gold amphora-shaped tea urn and a silver soup tureen. One of the loose sheets is a study for the tea urn while the other is inscribed: "Odiot orfevre de S. A. R. le Monsieur. frere du Roi" (the future Charles X, brother of Louis XVIII) "Et de S. A...Mr Le duc D'orleans". His left hand balances an open sketchbook in his lap wherein a study for the presentoir can be seen.
