DescriptionThe shoulder bag, with a wide strap, is covered with beadwork embroidery. The strap is attached to the bag on the left side. Each end of the strap has three finger shaped appendages, bound with cloth and beaded in a pattern of four attached diamonds. The left half of the strap (as viewed) is beaded in a stylized floral pattern; the right half is beaded with fat wavy-edged X's with diamond centers. The spaces between the X's form the negative design of an elaborate +, creating a positive / negative effect. The bag recto has the following sequence of designs from top to bottom: a row of six winged shapes; a narrow red band; a row of pink, ochre and black triangles; fifteen metal cones with red yarn tufts; a red band; a symmetrical repetition (mirror image) of an abstract leaf design; a narrow red band; seventeen metal cones and yarn tufts. Colors of beadwork: pink, blue, maroon, ochre, black, most elements outlined in white. The strap is lined in beige cloth. On View
