DescriptionIn a clearing the centaur Chiron is teaching the young Achilles to shoot with a bow and arrow. Dressed in a violet cloak, Achilles looks to his teacher on the left while his arm gestures to the right. Chiron, wearing a green cloak and a quiver, holds two more arrows. A dead lion, its back paws bound together with an orange ribbon, lies behind Achilles. A lyre and blue drapery are located in the left foreground. In the upper right a snake lies on one of the boulders which enclose the scene.
