DescriptionFigures of Mother and Child, carved in the round, of white marble with traces of dark paint on the border of the garments and traces of gilding. The figure of the Mother is posed in a graceful S-curve. She holds the Child in her left arm. Her right arm is slightly bent at the elbow, with right hand at side. Her head is turned to the left. Her expression is a sweet smile and she gazes at the Child. The Child is fully formed. He gazes to the right and in his hands he holds a bird. The garments of both figures are deeply carved and flowing and reveal body form beneath.
