DescriptionFile consists of petition that Salmonier Line be dedicated to Colonel Philip G. Burton and renamed in his honour in recognition of "his sympathetic understanding and assistance to us Newfoundlanders at all times, and his deep interest in Newfoundland and the welfare of Newfoundlanders." Lt. Col., US district engineer, was responsible for the construction of American army facilities in Newfoundland. Lt. Col. Bruton recommended that American wage rates be paid Newfoundland workers. The petition is signed by both women and men.
