DescriptionIn the foreground of the painting are two figures to the right of center. One figure is dressed in a white turban, red cloak, and pouring water from a vessel while he raises the right arm of the figure who is prostrate upon the ground clothed in only a loin cloth. Firmly planted behind the two figures is a large tree which cuts the painting vertical, woods to the right and a hilly landscape seen through the woods on the left. In the foreground on the right is an unattended horse with saddle while in the background three men dressed in seventeenth century costume are seen in the woods. In the foreground to the left is a pheasant perched upon a tree stump, in the middleground are two figures, one standing dressed in a robe and turban reading a book and the other, a little further in the distance, walking with the use of a cane; and in the distance three houses upon a hill.
