DescriptionThis fragment, head, shoulders and upper torso, was originally part of a pair statue of a man and his wife. A cartouche of Ramesses II is preserved on the right shoulder. A part of a lenghty inscription is preserved on the back pillar, but neither the man's name or titles are included. The figure wears a double wig, extending in back to the shoulders, and the under wig extending in front to the chest. The figure also wears a garment with a slit neckline and elaborately pleated sleeves.Condition: The right arm of the figure is missing below the shoulder. The right side of the nose has been chipped. Otherwise, the face is in good condition. Much of the surface of the statue has suffered small cracking, but there are no apparent insecure fragments. Several of the cracks have a black fill material in them, and the bottom of the left arm and sleeve also have minor fillings. Light colored soil is present in areas of low relief in the hair, garment, and inscriptions.
