DescriptionBowl, hammered, relief pattern executed by carving away background. Exterior background mercury gilded, details chased. Interior on bottom, figure of quail incised and gilded, enclosed in gilt circle. Exterior covered by elaborate design in low relief. At center, a ram enclosed in a jeweled medallion. Around this, three fluted vases from which spring grapevines. The branches curve around raised medallions enclosing quail. A bear, fox and dog with collar, nibble at grape clusters. Above vine branches are short-tailed and long-tailed birds (pheasant?). A band of acanthus leaves and a row of pearls encircle rim.On View
