DescriptionGorget, made from section of a conch shell cut into a circular shape and carved. The design is surrounded by a plain border with two small holes drilled through the top. The design consists of an abstracted profile figure with long nose, circular eye and open mouth with teeth indicated, a scroll design issuing from the mouth and a cirvilinear plume on the back of the head. The lower body and limbs are indicated with spread arms, open hands, legs in running position, all immersed in a complex, swirling pattern of scrolls and volutes executed with filigree-like pierce work.
